5th Grade Camp

Carson's 5th grade group went on a 5th grade camp for two days and I went with him. We left early morning on a Tuesday and went to Maple Dell. It was raining when we got there so we had the kids in the lodge for an hour or so until it cleared up a little to set up tents. Then we split into groups and went to different classes like GPS, Leave no Trace, First Aid etc. We went on a hike and ate lunch up in the mountains. It rained and rained and rained some more. So it was pretty wet and muddy the whole day. By evening most of the tents were soaked through with water so at the last minute we pulled all the girls into the lodge and all the boys into an extra kitchen place behind the lodge. Most parents that went with kids slept in their cars but since I didn't drive Carson and I stayed in one of the army type tents that were already there. The next day we did more classes and had breakfast and lunch there before leaving and of course it rained some more! I guess the good thing about the rain meant there were no bugs! It was quite the adventure but I was proud of the kids for how well they handled it especially being in ponchos and in the rain most of the time! Carson had a great time and it was fun to spend time with him!
